Ellis Crosby and Associates

Ok, can someone tell me why their name is no longer on the Ethics Expulsion website anymore, they have completely taken it off... and also under the Bud Hibbs website, where he writes agencies to avoid, they were a big one on their, and now they are no longer on there? what is up?
Also the ACA says they are only suspended frome their organization...so can they still make these calls?? I'm afraid not to pay them, but I'm afraid if I do then my payment won't get posted to my account.

are they or are tey not a collection agency. The "Investigator" I talked to informed me they were not a collection agency and that she didn't have to discuss the validity of my debt with me, and not to call back unless I had a confirmation of my moneygram payment to them. So what do I do?

Hi mdow315
Welcome to the forums

Ellis Crosby & Associates are suspended by ACA for 90 days and they cannot make any collections from any borrower. Further if they try to collect money from you or any other borrower then you can lodge a complain in FTC and Consumer Protection Agency.

The suspension of Ellis Crosby & Associates is effective from 01.06.2005. So please do not make any payments to them as your payment will not be posted in your account. Please do not stress yourself out.
Hope you will find this information useful

Regards
Peter

I have lodged a complaint against them with teh FTC, the Attorney General of Florida and the BBB. I talked with ACA and am filing a complaint with them as soon as they get me the paperwork. However, the ACA told me that they were only under suspension from their organization and that they could still collect money and make calls during this time. So now what do I do? They continue to call at work!

tell them that you work records the conversations and if they do not stop calling you at work, then you will sue for big bucks! That is illegal for them to call your work when you tell them not to. Also send them a cease letter, It ceases all communication with them and you by phone.

good luck

I just received another call from Ellis Crosby and Associates. Though she was much nicer this time...I asked that she send me validation...she said that I had two fraud charges pending against me and that they normally don't send out anything like that. I told her I would like something and she put me on hold to speak to a supervisor...needless to say a supervisor never came back on the line. So now what?
Sounds to me like they have just started up a Collection Agency and didn't read up on the laws. They are despicable I know! I am still waiting to be served with my FRAUD CASE and arrested. :)
You are an aware and informed consumer by now who is ready to preach people from Ellis to follow the fdcpa laws. :D Do let us know if you hear from them.

Katie - FTC, BBB, District Attorney Office are operating for the consumer welfare. These people will definitely be punished. Just waiting for the time to happen and see some action.

Quote:

Remember this company is in Florida!
The Attorney General's Office in Florida has been trying to get as many people to contact them about this so they can build a case.
Call Summer Saladino
Economic Crimes office of the Attorney General
Phone: (904) 348- 2720

She is working with me on this and suggested I encourage all victims to contact her.
PLEASE contact her!

BethN - Please have a look at the debt validation letter posted at the following url.

http://forums.debtcc.com/forums/about2779.html

This validation letter is your legal weapon which reminds the debt collectors to practice legal collection efforts. They cannot harass the consumers by making endless calls otherwise it will be a violation of the fdcpa law.
