Thank you for posting the information on how to file a complaint and where to go to. What this company is doing is wrong and illegal. I for one am certainly going to do whatever I can to make sure this never happens to anyone else. :x

ACA International is an international trade organization that keeps a track of all the third party collectors.

All complaints and misconduct of the debt collectors are reported to the organization and they take action against such illegal acts.

You can lodge your complaint regarding Ellis Crosby and Associates if you feel that your consumer rights have been violated as per the fdcpa law.

i urge everyone to go to the website ifccfbi.gov and lodge a formal complaint. i gave them this website but we must be proactive.people will only help you if you help yourself.this is the fbi

I delt with this company in 07-2005. A man named Steven Price called me at work telling me that he was an investigator from Florida. He rattled off a case number, asked me if I was under the influence of alcohol or drugs and told me that this case was scheduled to go to my county court from his database at 1pm. I knew that Florida was one hour ahead of us so if I was to go by his time that meant it would reach my court in 20 min. He kept telling me that I was being charged with theft by deception. This man scared me to death. I told him that I had to have my checking account closed due to a large amount of money disappearing that I had not authorized. He told me once this information reached my county court that they would then send an officer to positively id me and process me in jail. When I told him that I couldn't afford to have that happen, he told me that he could give me one hour to go to Wal-Mart and send him a moneygram for 762.00 to stop the process. When I got my payday loan it was only for 300.00 - so needless to say they got me for more money than I had ever owed to sonic payday. This man told me they would be sending me a letter of confirmation in 7 business days, well...it has now been almost one month so I decided to do some checking today. The first thing I did was find this website. I've read alot of the same thing these kniving, indecent "people" did to me so...as I was reading I also found this:

I spoke to her this morning and she is very interested in this case and she is sending me the paperwork for me to fill out on my case with these theives. I also talked to a city police officer from my town this morning and he gave me a couple of pointers....1. a TRUE investigator or detective will never ask you to send them money over the phone and 2. wages can not be garnished without a court order. My husband called Ellis Crosby & Associates this morning and low and behold...Steven Price's name is now Steven Neal...same voice hmmmm...makes you wonder who needs investigated and sent to jail huh? Got my first phone message yesterday. Started investigating and found this website. Terrific info. Already faxed a letter telling them to stop calling me at work. Of course they tried to get a hold of me.
Because of all the good info on this website I am prepared. Also don't do payday loans.

That is a good question because I've heard that they were suspended in June and they called me in July.

I was phoned at my place of employment and was threatened a John Ford who claimed to be an attorney for Ellis Crosby. ( A collection agency) He also said he was calling to collect on a loan of mine that had not been paid. When I asked what company he said
"Ms. _____ I don't know but I am sure you do. I need you to put me through to the owner of your business because I traced your IP address to this business and now he is involved. He needs to know that you are going to be arrested for fraud." I immediately got upset and asked again for him to give me the name of the company and rattled off some name and told me I needed to let him speak to the owner of the business. I advised Mr. Ford that I was not committing any type fraud and that my boss nor my legal department needed to be involved in my personal business. When I asked what he was talking about with the fraud--he said " oh come on you know your bank account is closed. I know all about it because I have reviewed your account." I proceeded to try and advise him my bank account was not closed but there had been a problem and that my local banking representative had been assisting me in getting it straight and that I could provide him with proper documentation but he needed to first give me the name of the company that I owed and the amount. I quickly advised him that I did not owe anyone--and when I tried to talk he told me to shut up and listen because at 3:00 pm that afternoon the a deputy from my county would be arriving at my job to arrest me. He kept saying is that how you want this handled? If not you need to mail me 425.17 by moneygram at Walmart or I would be picked up. He also told me that I would receive paperwork via fax that the court had dropped all charges. When I told him I knew the judge from my county and that I was going to call her, he said "Ms. Poole I don't care who you know and proceeded to yell at his secretary SUSAN GET ME THE COUNTY SHERIFF"S DEPT ON MS POOLE"S CASE ON THE PHONE-" I became so upset that my supervisor was ready to yank the phone out of the wall. Mr. Ford then proceeded to tell me that all of this could be avoided if I would just send the money. I kept telling him I had rights and that I was a person and to please treat me like a person not dirt. He was very rude. I finally was put through to a collection dept. where a gentleman gave me the instuctions as to where to send the money. When I hung up I called my bank to check if the payments had been drafted. And indeed they had. I had only missed one payment. This Mr. Ford told me that I had been trying to scam the company since February and here it is AUgust. I kept asking him if I truly owed the money then why didn't they contact me via email or letter or phone.
I had never heard from them so I did not realize there was a problem. Long story short, I did send the money. I have yet to receive any paperwork marked paid. And, one of the girls that works for me called him back to call his bluff and he was very very rude to her. After speaking with my bank, I do not believe I owed that much money and I feel as though I was the one being scammed. This needs to stop and this company needs to have charges brought against it's employees for the threats they make to other people.

I work for the company you all stole this money now you want somone to feel sorry for you thieves. you need to pay back what is owed. how can youf form or start something when you steal from these companies. you all need to just form an alliance and get together to pay back this money. how dare you speak all this garbage when you people collect all this money and necver return a dime. you all knew exactly what you was doing hwen you recv. these funds. we are just doing our job. how about you you low-lives. we will contiune to collect. the company is not shutting down. to tell you the truth we are making more than you all will ever make in a lifetime.

remember this. if you all would be adults here and take care of your finances better you wouldnt recv these calls. Be a little more careful about printing your info from these e payday loans. now that is a word of advice. if you borrow something you must return. if you write a check in walmart to recv. merchandise you must honor that check not stop payment. that is what you done. you all have written an e-check telling clients that you will return this money. now you all want to get mad when they take drastic messures to get thier money back. GROW UP, HONOR YOUR COMMITMENTS, AND PAY YOUR BILLS. Quit trying to get a free ride in life. By even mentioning suing for something that is a direct result of your OWN actions, you are nothing more then a parasite in society. Just as bad as people who leech off of welfare.

yeah I agree with the borrowers on this one. Guest, I think your company is a joke if you work for Ellis Crosby. I don't even have a loan with your company. I just saw it on the news and read it online and I think these borrowers are in the right. I would love to you borrowers win a settlement and not payback Big Business (not even the loan company). They should also learn their leason for dealing with a scam Ellis company. It would finally be a win for the little guy. I am tired of all these CEO's and Big Businesses always taking advantage of little guys and charging ridiculous interest of 700% or so. That's absurd.

Borrowers....I'm not sure on the laws and stuff but it sounds like to me on the way you have been harrassed that you sue these guys personally. I suggest getting a good lawyer because it looks like you have a very valid case if the florida state attorney general is suing them also. Good luck.

I guess you don't get it. I don't work for any related agency. I just stumbled across these posts while doing some research. I really don't care if ellis crosby and/or any other collection agency goes out of business.

I find it strange that many of you would take out a load KNOWING the penalties (before you took it out) if you defaulted on it. You then choose to get pissed off by everyone other then yourselves. Two wrongs don't make a right. If any collection agency crosses the line, they deserve to get penalized. What doesn't need to happen is people looking for an easy way out of their debt. Jeremy, people like yourself and Katie really lose credibility when you act like children, get upset, and call people names. Between that and not taking care of your loans BEFORE you defaulted on them shows the level of maturity we have here.

So basically i guess for all the pain and suffering they endured they may win a loan and a settlement and not have to pay anyone. That is really nice.
