I received a letter today from NCO, they are collecting for a medical bill for my son which was covered by our insurance. It was a VERY SMALL bill, what is so strange is this, I have NEVER received a bill from any emergency medical provider (this bill was for an emergency room visit), and this NCO sent me a letter today with the balance owed and a DEBT VERIFICATION letter which they said I requested. Which is nice they sent it, and I'm resubmitting it to my insurance and secondary insurance so that the original creditor will get paid by them. Because whatever my primary insurance doesn't cover the secondary insurance covers 100%. I just found this to be very strange. They even had my primary insurance name and my secondary insurance name.

Nco took a check from my disability blind husband of 84,00.
They took from a disability social security of my husband 84,00 and i'm looking for his statements in citibank and didnt find yet. I'll find soon.my husband didnt own any overdraft of 25,63 in bank america,he paid everything and closed his checking account in bank america.he still have a 14,99 in his balance and his account is closed and you are giving 14,99 to bank america for free.
In the credit report of my husband nco put 84,00 because they are liars and thieves and i go to tell why.bank america sold the credit card of my husband with 4000,oo to nco but my husband only pay bank america every month his account and i go to tell why.
The motive is that nco bad debt collectors told my husband a lie.they told my husband if he paid them a 84,00 his 4000,00 credit card
Disappeared from his credit report and nco told my husband he didnt need more to pay his credit card.
In his credit report nco say a different thing and they send a paper with a false overdraft of 25,63 that became 84,00.i have to find the statement here with payment to nco because arm(accounts receivable management want money for the false overdraft either.arm wants a 92,27.my husband is blind and mentally ill but he is not stupid.arm is calling here put i disconnect my phone here.
Nco send a letter here with a number account of m19180.( internal account number of nco)
"to assure proper credit put "our internal account number.m19180.
They use account number m19180."to assure proper credit please put our internal account number m19180.
Nco honest people???

You do have to watch NCO. I have had some dealings with them. The bill was paid, years ago, they still wanted me to pay them. When I faxed copy after copy that it was paid, they still would not do anything. It took months to dispute it on credit report, and get them off. They also reported that I had an account with a department store- never had one.

So Tania, get all your receipts together, go to your bank-tell the credit report people, and maybe you will get some relief..KAren :D

From what I have been able to find on the Internet. This company seems to target people who have filed bankruptcy. They wait until the bankruptcy is 15 years old or so, and they call people and try to collect on bills that have either been paid, OR often it seems that they make up bills that never existed, in hopes that the person they call will not know any better and offer to pay on the bill.

My name got on another person's credit card account in 1991. This is the fourth collection agency that's been hounding me about this since then even though I have provided written proof from the original credit card account company to the first three. These guys amaze me. They appear to keep selling the debt even though it does not exist. Communication so far has been phone message only which I have ignored. Federal law, as I read it, requires actual oral or written contact.

http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/

This is the PA attygen's office where you can file a complaint re: the practices of a business operating in their state.

As I did concerning the numerous phone calls I received from NCO, even tho I asked them to contact me by USPS only.

Turns out NCO has been in hot water before ftc.gov/os/caselist/9923012/9923012.shtm and was fined $1.5 MILLION for illegal collection practices.

They ultimately handed my file back to the OC, with whom I negotiated a settlement on the debt.

So I would suggest the same remedy to anyone who may have issues with the way NCO deals with you. Strike while the iron is hot!

I got a call about an alleged debt from NCO. They left the debt information on a wireless business line - so much for their confidentiality.

They claimed in the voice mail I owed a bill $1200 to Bank of America and provided an account number.

I called Bank of America because the account number was unrecognized. I do have one Bank of America credit card account and the Bank agreed it was fine, never even a day late since it's inception in 2001.

The Bank assisted with an extensive search using my social, addresses (current and former), account numbers, etc. They were so thorough, they even found a deceased grandparent's CD deposit where I am the benficiary in the event of their death. They even sent me documents of what I need to do to have the CD transferred to me solely.

Bank of America not only found no accounts in collection, but also stated they found no record that they have ever contracted NCO to do any collection work for them.

It was Bank of America's guess that the company is buying bad information from another source. NCO does not represent the bank.

the Bank told me point blank, DON'T give them any personal identifiable information or account numbers. Just tell them to stop calling.

I received a letter from NCO directed to someone else, but with my current address on it. The debt is from consumers energy. Basically, this person owe consumers energy money and in the letter, NCO threatens to transfer the this person's delinquent amount to MY ACCOUNT. I called them right back, explained I don't know who this person is and I dont live on that address during that time. They said they would put a note that it is not my bill. I also called consumers energy and they also acknowledged that it is not my bill. A week later, I got my consumers energy bill, the amount is ON MY BILL listed as transfer from xx account, which is NOT mine account! As I researched NCO and discovered numerous complaints against this company. It is shocking that consumers energy bought into their "research" and actually put someone else's balance on my bill. I have been fighting for this ridiculous charges with NCO and consumers energy. I can 't get a hold of anyone at NCO, or the person who "took my case" in Consumers Energy. It has been very draining to me. Where else can I get help on straighting this out?

It has both of our names on it. that is why I opened it. The content, however, is direct to the person I don't know. NCO has my current Consumer energy account number and it says on the letter, it refers to this persons account as "old account" and "active account" is my account#. They must have done research to link us. I don't know this person. and obviously, consumers energy bought into the "research". NCO is real and they can link accounts between two total strangers.
