ELLIS,CROSBY AND ASSOCIATE

I received a call from a karen baker at ellis, crosby and associate. She left a really strange message. That it was important I call her back rightaway or my attorney. Then she said good luck to me. Now that I read these emails. Who really arre these people? And are they really suspended by the ACA Ethics and Professional Responsibilty Commitee for ninty days? And if so are they suppose to be making these kind of phone calls? And could you send me an email with a phone number so I can verify their supension. This way I can bring it to there attention?

You should definatly bring it to the Attorney General of Florida's attention, please look him up his name is Charlie Crist, and report him to them! They have an investgation on them right now. :P

Katie,

Hi, I got a call from "Investigater Karen Baker" today myself and would like to know where I can report her to? She wanted me to send money by 2:00 or else. She also accused me of some type of fraud and asked me questions about my arrests if any and if I had ever been on probation or parole, now what does that have to do with collections? She also threatened that if I did not send money by that time that I would regret it. I paid the payday advance off that I got but stopped any debits after that amount was paid and apparently they wanted to collect three times that amount and they couldn't get to it due to my actions at my bank and they couldn't rip me off... wah! Please let me know what actions I can take to put these people in their place ASAP!!!

Thanks,

Missy

Missy - If you make a complete tour of this forum specially Ellis Crosby threads, you will realize that they have been regularly using the same unfair techniques on the consumers to recover the debts. Some of these debts are even non-existent. But they are trying to intimidate the consumers by building in the fear so that the innocent people start paying them without any further thoughts.

You need to be aware of your consumer rights and deal with them strongly because they are violating the law. Each and every of their actions is a violation of the fdcpa law and they are about to face severe punishment.

Their membership is terminated but that does not stop them from contacting the consumers. Although, they are undergoing legal surveillance, money is not getting deposited in their account.

So, I will suggest you to send a written letter to them through certified mail and inform that you don't wish to communicate with them and they are required to stop contacting you. Any further communication will result in legal actions and you will sue them under the Consumers Protection Act as per the FDCPA law.

If they contact you on the telephone, you can inform them that you are recording all the conversation and you will present it to your lawyer and file a case against them.

In the meantime, you can lodge your complaints at the FTC, DA's office, BBB because the agencies are looking for a larger number of complaints to take necessary action against them.

I got a call yesterday from an "investigator". I did set up payment arrangements. At first, she said they were not a payment agency and that I would need to pay $900 by 4pm. I told her that she was ridiculous, and mentioned some items from this website!! She then backed down a bit, and agreed to my proposal. But after checking back to this site today, will Ellis even receive and process my Quik Collect on 8/12?? I just read about their survelliance. Should I proceed with a payment? Which, by the way, is way over my original debt amount. This forum has been extremely helpful, but I need advice...again! Please advise....

let me just tell you, i receive my first call from them and they ended with GOOD LUCK! What the heck does that mean, they make it sound like you will have to dodge bullets. Anyway i just got done paying $1600.00 the very end of july. i guess it is too late to get my money back? i sent it via western union. i got a call today from 5 different people. they refuse to show me the validity of their claim, what does that tell you. i was crying an hour ago because i did not know where i was going to pull 515.00 from. now, after this site, i won't! they also gave me a date of when i took the cash advance, my bank has no record!

Hi kiymie

Welcome to the forums. I am sad to hear that you have paid money to Ellis Crosby before getting sufficient information from this website.

But, now I assume that you must have made yourself well informed and know that you will deal the next collection calls more courageously.

Please be rest assured that Ellis Crosby will not take any legal action against you to recover some non-existent debt. The fdcpa law authorizes you that you can refuse any payment call unless it has been legally validated.

Many of the innocent consumers like you have become their prey and hence have filed their complaints at the FTC, BBB, DA's office. The number of complaints keep growing each day and we are about to see some quick legal action against Ellis Crosby very soon.

Roxette

Yep, I got called last week and lost it, I hate being threatened, I immediatly found this site and reported them to the FTC, fdcpa, Florida Atty. General and the Maryland Atty. Generals offices. When the "officer" from EC called the next day, I told her I knew about the company and that they were under suspension, so unless they wanted a legal suit they better stop calling me and hung up on her, haven't heard a peep since.

That is the way to handle such companies; you need to be aware of latest happening with the company.

I received various messages in the last two days from Detective Conner. He called into my corporate number and accidently reached another employee here in my office. She had the guts to call him back just to tell him he had the wrong number and then he began to threaten her stating that "it was going to be a very long day" for her.

My coworker and I started doing some investigation of our own and I am so glad we found this website. Now I know exactly the type of people I am dealing with here and how to handle it. If they have anything really important to deal with me on they can send it in writing.

Hi caleahcat

Welcome to the forums. We are glad that this website is helping most of the consumers and showing the proper ways on how to deal with the illegal collection calls.

If the collection agency keeps on calling you, it is a violation of the fdcpa law and you can send a cease and desist letter through certified mail.

You can also record all the telephonic conversation and present it to your lawyer for legal actions.

Roxette

I had that same call from an Investigator Long
Same threats - my loan was only for 150.and she wanted 507.50, I'm willing to work with her but don't threaten me or treat me inhumanly. Her demand was for 207.50 than 300.00 on the 26th. I made an offer and she refused. I've already filed two complaints one with the DA's and the other with FTC. What do I do from here?

Vickie, if you pay anything to Ellis Crosby on the mentioned date, it won't go towards your debt in anyway. Ellis Crosby is undergoing suspension and they are restricted from doing normal business.

If you read this forum and all the related topics of Ellis Crosby, you will learn some of the confident ways to deal with such collection calls.

I received numerous calls from Shannon Moore from Ellis Crosby. The first one she told me that they were going to file fraud charges again me if I didn't pay $650 by 2pm the next day. I told her I didn't have that kind of money and she asked me if I had anything of value I could pawn. I told her she has got to be kidding. She had me so worked up trying to figure out how I was going to get this money. She called me again yesterday and again today, at work. Well my best friend just informed me of what was going on with this company so I went ahead and contacted the Fla District Attorney's Office and filed a complaint with the ftc. I am waiting to hear back from them.

Hi Teri,

Welcome to the forums. I expected that the harassing calls from Ellis Crosby will stop by now. Their business has been terminated and they have numerous complaints filed against them from the consumers.

You can record all the telephonic conversation and inform them that you intend to take legal action against them.

So as of today, 8/30/05, they are no longer in business and can't collect money??? I was amazed to read stories similar to mine, where the original debt was $250 and now it is $800 due to miscellaneous fees and charges. Do I still need a lawyer or can I just make payments to pay off the debt?

I would wait until your debt is sold to an HONEST collection agency. Or im thinking of contacting the places i obtained the loans and telling them whats going on with the company they hired and see if they are willing to take payment from me.

Hi Msullens

Please read the various posts of Ellis Crosby in this forum and know the fact that office of the Florida attorney general has filed a legal case against them. This has resulted in the termination of their business activities.

A large number of complaints have already been placed in the BBB, FTC against them. You can also put your formal complaint against them and avoid future harassments.

Hi, welcome to the forums. Being in debt, or not, you have the right not to be harassed. You should take every step in making a complaint against the company that is calling you. Visit the BBB website, and make a complaint with the FTC.

By the way, did Detective Connor say which company he was with, or leave a number?

Regards-
Mike

This is a documented attempt to reach me. There are some issues in her office that are actually bringing her some great concern. At this point and time it would be in my best interest either me or my retained attorney to give them a call back by 5 p.m EST today, which was 3/14. Do not underestimate this is a very sensitive issue because your situation here is growing very time sensitive. Again, her name is Anna Martinez and she's trying to reach me. I can reach her at 800-871-7730 and ask for her office. Good luck
