Ellis Crosby and Associates

What can they do? I just received a phonecall AT WORK and Mr. Price said they could put me in jail and take my hard drive from my computer. Is that true?

Hi Hermanda

Welcome to the forums. Please do not get scared by their threatening calls as they want to build in the fear in the minds of the consumers. It is your fear only due to which you will start paying them hurriedly.

Moreover, their membership has been suspended and as a result, they are undergoing legal surveillance. Even if you pay them, it will not get deposited into their account.

Next time, when they call you, be strong and inform them that you will be taking legal action against them as they are violating the fdcpa law. Also, you will report about their illegal action to the FTC and the State Attorney General office. Let them know that you are aware of your consumer rights and will take legal action against them, if necessary, at any cost.

Be rest assured that there is nothing to worry about while dealing with people of Ellis Crosby. Do not get intimidated and talk to them courageously. If they continue with their harassing calls, inform them that you are recording all their telephonic conversation and will present them to your lawyer.

Do let me know if you face any problem in between.

Regards
Roxette

Thank you for responding so quickly,

I live in Philadelphia PA and I want to make sure their is nothing this collection agency can do to me like put me in jail etc.. which was part of the phone call. I did some research on the internet and found a letter to stop the calls, will this work?

Hi Hermanda

Welcome back. It is strange that although the membership of Ellis Crosby has been revoked but still they are involved in the illegal acts like threatening, jails etc. They are adding more to their list of complaints and it seems that their days of business can be counted.

Yes, you can send a letter to cease all the communication with you. Any further communication will be a violation of the fdcpa law and you will take legal action against them. Do send the letter through certified mail with return receipt requested so that you have a valid proof of your efforts made. You can get a sample letter from this link. You can change it as per your needs.

Do let me know if you have any further query.
