This was a transcript from News Channel 5 investigative reports. Now while this chat session reflects someone trying to get a fake doctorate degree, if you read the whole thing, the operator typed the wrong information in and refered to Belford HS. To get a legitimate high school diploma and university degrees, you have to work hard, work hard and then pay the piper for your hard work.

"NewsChannel 5 Investigates" discovered a state employee with a suspect degree from Belford University. But we were curious just how far Belford would go in handing out a fake degree. So we went into an online chat using the name of Gov. Phil Bredesen. It wasn't really Phil Bredesen, but the online "counselor" didn't seem to care.

Belford high school reviews:
Below is the text of the chat:

Don't fall for Ashworth Univeristy either. I almost signed up for there Bridal Consultant course. Luckily I googled them and found a bunch of reports on www.ripoffreport.com. Since then I've made it a habit to run a ripoffreport.com search on any company I do business with.

I hope you didn't pay them and that you are able to find a legitimate G.E.D. program. I would suggest checking your state's department of education website.

I looked into that school and it looked shady to me.

My daughter was homeschooled after 7th grade. The public school were I live suck and the violence was getting bad.

When she was "technically" in 11 grade I looked into the internet diploma thing. Belford was one of them.

I decided against it and went the GED route. I bought he book "McGraw-Hills GED , The most complete and reliable study program for the GED test". I got it used on Amazon for a really great price. The book has practices tests. You take the test and then score. In problem areas it tells you exactly what to study in the book. She studied that book as well as some online GED information and tests.

She passed her GED test with flying colors and was done with high school a year ahead of her peers at age 17.

They also offer a lot of free GED classes at community centers and libraries. My daughter could not do these because she was not 18 but I wanted to point it out. They also have a GED show on public televsion that discusses each part of the test.

Colleges accept the GED and the GED scores. It might be better to just study and get the GED.

I am a recruiter for the US ARMED FORCES and had a young man come in with this diploma from Belford. Read their accredations... they are nothing worth value. The diploma is not recognized by the United States and thus not usable to satisfy the education recquirment for the military either I later discovered. On the phone they claim it will work for the military. It does not. The applicant also had approx 250 taken with out recieving his credentials in the mail and had to reorder a 2nd time for additional money all for nothing. These folks are a rip off and are very clever scammers. Try cornerstone christian correspondence course. It is accredited, will work for the military and is $80 with a 3 week turnaround... or contact a military recruiter. Prefferably the National Guard :)

A match starts a fire which can do damage....do you have to see a third degree burn to be convinced??

Sure Joe's barbering academy might accept you with this fake certificate and charge you $20k to get a second rate hair cutting certificate.?? The place is not accredited by any viable body...one that will get you a good education.
And lets face it....you have to do something to get something.?? You wanna buy your dipolma, you deserve an overpriced certificate that isnt worthy of wiping a behind.?? Do the GED route...call your local school district.

I recently made a post on belford.I was pointing out that they are a fully accredited with the higher education commission.I did the research and checked with it myself.Let me explain, belford has been in business since the early 1990's and they now have many competitors in the modern day.The web is a free media so on these diffrent forums they get slandered alot by people from other online campuses, claiming belford ripped them off which is not true.I earned my belford high school diploma about 2 years ago,and im am currently in my 2nd year in New york university. Not only that i work at the airport(Who are sure to be tight on their employees background),and i have been working here for a year and 4 months with no problems. So dont go around believing what you read and everything you hear, you have to remember the web is a free media, and a place for competition

Huh?? You must be a Belford employee....they are NOT accredited....

In the stickies at the top is the link to Wikipedia with online verifiable data. Show proof that their diplomas are good for anything other than toilet paper.

Plus I read NYU's admission criteria....you dont have a transcript when you attend Belford...just a cheap diploma. It aint an easy school to get into so I dont believe after jumping thru all the hoops of all the standardized testing, essay writing and the whatnot, anyone would be that stupid to submit a fake diploma.

The school is not accredited by any accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) or Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Neither of the organizations from which Belford claims accreditation, the International Accreditation Agency for Online Universities (IAAOU) and the Universal Council for Online Education Accreditation (UCOEA), are recognized accreditation associations of higher learning.[2] Without recognized accreditation, Belford's degrees and credits might not be acceptable to employers or other academic institutions, and use of degree titles may be restricted or illegal in some jurisdictions.[3] Jurisdictions that have restricted or made illegal the use of credentials from unaccredited schools include Oregon,[4] [5] Michigan,[6] Maine,[7] North Dakota,[5] New Jersey,[5] Washington,[4] [8] Nevada,[4][9] Illinois,[4] Indiana,[4] Texas[10][11] and Korea.[12] Many other states are also considering restrictions on the use of degrees from unaccredited institutions.[/quote]
