collection reporting on your credit report

It is worth knowing that if you have been notified by a collection agency trying to collect a debt--to give a polite call to to the original debtor. It may be that the original debtor has sold the business and the new business owner only keeps records from the date they took over the business. WA-LA! The credit reporting agencies will remmove it from your credit report. (Even if it wasn't your debt to begin with. That's the real beauty of it! Such was the case with me.) So there you go; it doesn't ever hurt to try, huh?

This can be a case of misplaced consumer files with one company taken over by another. If someone has an account in the file that took place long time ago, it can be disputed with the bureaus and request latest information. If they are unable to give the data, the item will be marked disputed and maybe removed from the file. hmm..
