Bass and Associates

I received contact from a Miss Laskey at Bass and Associates (877) 281-2224, ext 326 today. They claim that they have affidavits to file on me for Bank Fraud and Theft by Deception unless I pay $805 today. I contacted the company they claim to be representing a few times in the past asking to set up payment arrangements and to advise them of my bank account closing due to another company continually taking money out of it. I never received any response from them, and now I received this call. Bass and Associates say that their client has sent out notices but I never received anything. I am so floored I don’t know what to do. Is this possible? What are my options? I never had something like this before in my life.

Several people have dealt with this company, several people have been threatened with arrest and all sorts of things. Please don't send these people a dime until they validate the debt. Tell them you aren't sending anything until you see something on paper. They are required by law as a collection agency to show you something in writing when requested.

They have no affidavits. You will not be charged with anything. They are threatening you to pay them. Do not pay them a dime. Check out these links about Bass & Associates and you will understand how they operate.

I talked with my lawyer and was asked to contact Bass and Associate and ask for an itemization for us to go over. Ms. Laskey said - my lawyer is welcomed to contact her, but she will NOT provide that for me! If I can afford a laywer I can afford to pay.

You must send a debt validation letter to the collection company and cover your base legally. Under the federal laws, all collectors are required to give the complete info of the debt before you start any payments. You will have to make sure that your money will go to the right hands.

Everyday, people are filing complaints against Bass and Associates because of their illegal collection practices. You should also report the company to your local attorney general, FTC and the BBB. They must be already aware about this collection agency and will listen to your complaints. Go ahead and keep a track of all their phone calls with dates and time. If your state allows recording debt collection phone calls without taking permission from the other party, you can do this and get a legal case against them. Check the link below if you are residing in any of the state that allows secret recording of phone calls.

I received the same call from Ms Laskey and she threaten with me Affidavits as well. I informed her I would make payments arrangements and was able to obtain a money gram address. She gave me deadline and inform me that if I did not pay it would be forwarded back to legal with the same charges as Ms. Slaughter

I received a call from a Karen Walker from Bass and Associates with the same spiel about a loan never paid and affidavits being made against me. I explained I already resolved this matter and have the canceled bank check to prove it. I demanded they send me their claim in writing????????s Walker transferred me to a belligerent man that threatened to have me served with papers within a few hours but neither Ms. Walker nor this man could give me an amount or the name of the lending company. I am reporting them to the Attorney General.

Wow.....Kim would pick you up in Florida.

So I assume this is a PDL they are trying to collect. Following Kim's outrageous claim process, they would spend more on the plane ticket to fly down, then pay your bail, all to collect money.

I wish we had a recording of that call, Kizzy. Best lie ev-ah!

Kizzy,
I wouldn't accept them verbally telling you who the creditor is as getting it verified. Request that they send you something in writing to validate this...so you can see the breakdown of how they came to the amount they are trying to get you to send. I'm almost 100% sure they will refuse to send you this validation.

Unfortunatly, I didn't think to do this before I sent them money. I too received a call from Patti Moore with Bass and Associates telling me the same information that she gave to all of the others. Not wanting this to be a big deal and getting into much unnecessary trouble (so I thought) I went to Money Gram and sent them the money. Truly a lesson learned. DANG!

Another tip to those dealing with Bass & Associates or any other collection agency. Do not, for any reason, give them your bank account information, or pay by Moneygram. Insist on sending them a cashier's check or money order. They will fight you on it, but tell them that's the only way you'll pay. This gives you not only an address of their company for filing your complaint with the AG and BBB, but a paper trail proving that you have paid.
