How is this forum and community helpful?

I heard from many people that this website is good and does good work. What has it done for the society? How will you convince me that it is a blessing for our society?

I am asking this as I am very curious about it, please do not shout at me for asking this stupid question :).

I thank all in advance,
Ryanny

Ryanny---It's helpful because many of us have been in the same situations and only someone who has "been there" can really know how to help.

People can use other people's experiences to come out of their debt problems, and along the way can develop friendships with others who understand their situation.

Read through the information you'll find in our threads and decide for yourself if this place is for you.

Thanks!

Jessi

We share our own experiences with debt, which isn't an easy thing to do.
Many of us came here desperate, filled with dark thoughts and needed some guidance and understanding...This place saved my life and now I'm here to help others.
Debt can be very scary and literally ruins lives and the lives around those people.
Hope this helps

And I heard that DCC can cure some skin rashes. :D

Ok - seriously - I think it depends on what you consider as your definition of "good for the society". To me, the society is my neighbor next door, the people in the store, my friends at church and so on. If there is something out there that can benefit them in a certain way, whether it be emotional, financial, spiritual, comfort....you name it.... to me, that is good for the society. For when I am happy, jopyous, caring, I tend to want to help my fellow man. And from that little good deed, another can spring. Next thing you know, there is a waterfall of people helping other people.

Ya know that feeling that exists for the couple weeks up to Christmas? Everyone in the store is kind (except in the Elmo aisle), people hold doors, you smile at the person as you walk by? Why can't we be like that the other 351 days of the year? Being like that would be good to the society. If anything I say and do, or anything Jess, Fins, zeke, Ari.....anyone on this board.....can do, it helps.

That's just my opinion. I am probably wrong.

Jeff, your testimony was absolutely touching.

This place is incredible. Coming here saved me in so many ways, it got me completely and totally out of a horrendous debt situation, taught me so much, and gave me a bunch of really good, true friends. I love this place.

Isn't it a blessing to be able to come somewhere and lay all your troubles down on people who understand and care?

Ryanny,

Please feel free to register with the site because it's fast and free. I came upon this site last winter when I was searching for a way out of the pdl cycle. People here understood what I was going through and that was such a relief. I had told other family members. Although they were supportive of me, they didn't really understand because they stayed away from those places. My friends here gave me the courage to stand up against some very illegal tactics and to fight the good fight. I too now came help those who are in the same situation. Now, I am dealing with other debt and have entered into a debt settlement program that was recommend by others on this forum. I am now able to share my experiences with that. I too have made friends here who are helping me through a difficult family situation with words of encouragment and their prayers. As stated in another post, we are a community family. I think Karen said that and I believe to be so true for me :)

So many come here, including me,seemingly helpless and hopeless. Here we learn we do have to power to improve our lives and make educated decisions concerning debt. The support and friendships I have gained has been an added plus that I wasn't expecting.I hope you become part of our Community family and continue to post :D ...Karen

First off,
Jeff, you always make me laugh--and it's not a true visit to DCC without a giggle from you, lol...And second, when I posted this weekend when I was at the end of my rope with my personal struggle, I was touched by the love I got from the community in return. The best thing about this site is knowing that we ARE NOT ALONE!!!!!!!! That's why I keep coming back.

Jessi, your sentence has some real meaning in it. You didn't prepare it, it just came from your heart thinking about others in their shoes. I think that almost all regular people here (whom I know) have a very soft and tender heart. They cry, they make people laugh and talk about everything that keeps everyone united.

I consider this site my "lighthouse." When I didn't know what direction I should go, people in this forum have guided me, step by step, in dealing with my debts, to the point now where I am starting to see "light at the end of the tunnel." They helped me to see that there was a way out and that it wasn't as hopeless as it first seemed.
