Tammy-how much time had passed from when he got the card until he cancelled? Have you tried calling them stating that this was cancelled and to remove the charges? I would call them, make sure he's there since they can't give you info without his consent, and tell them that he cancelled this card on such and such date and to remove the charges.Hope this helps...Karen :D

Tammy, I believe your grandfather never signed for the card. Chase might have issued him the card on some introductory offer. How can this card be active without filling up the form and his signature on it? If the company forces your grandfather to pay the charges, ask them to show you proof that he applied for this one. Stick to them, they will have to withdraw the charges. It????????s not a debt that your grandfather owes if he has never signed for it.

What she said.
Also - if they are pulling the old "Send a card" trick, I believe it has to be used to be activated and the terms of the contract are agreed. If he never used it, you should have a time period in which to return it and the account cancelled with no charges.
I received one like that once - as long as I cut the card and returned it in 30 days, they reversed the "Setup" charges.

Nope he never signed for the credit card. He is dead set against credit cards. I offered to call the credit card company, but one problem, I live approx 700 miles away. I feel he shouldn't have to pay for something he canceled. Thanks for the suggestions and I will let grandma know what you have suggested.

Often, most credit card companies and any other profit making business have this tendency of bullying people and sell their products. It's just another disgusting way the company has been doing the marketing of their product on your grandfather, especially when he never applied for the trial pack. Unfortunately, many people fell into the ditch and pay money to the companies without sense. Tammy, inform your grandfather about this and stand strongly besides him in his decision making.
