Southern Empire??

Does anyone know this collection agency? Southern Empire has called my folks and told them I was going to be arrested for fraud. I know they're lying, but my mom was mortified. My understanding is that debt collectors are not to disclose any information to anyone other than the debtor about the reason for the call. Clearly they crossed the line and I'd like to do something about it.

This is a collector for a payday loan company that I paid off over a year ago, and haven't heard anything since, until this disturbing phone call. I no longer have any contact information, address, or anything else with which to pursue any recourse against these people.

Does anyone know anything about this organization?

Thanks for any help!

Is there any other DBA name of Southern Empire? BTW, CA must validate the debt in writing. It must be done within five days after doing the first phone call. If you don't get anything in the mail, write a debt validation letter to their mailing address. If you don't have their address, ask it from the company. Send the letter through certified mail

I don't know, for sure, if it's national payday advance, but I have an existing loan with them and they are being terribly obnoxious about it, calling my boss - who now hangs up on them - faxing my office for all to see, etc. This I believe is someone else. Southern Empire is what shows up on the caller id; they only identify themselves as "the fraud department." I've never received any validation letters from anyone, even legitimate creditors, and even after I ask for it.

Based on some research I did, Southern Empire is connected to National payday advance LLC. Some guy by the name of Wade Kaiser, aka Mr. Kay likes to threaten people. They even tried the same trick with me fully 18 months after I paid them off. Still have the illegal threats on voicemail. I have my attorney working on trying to track them down for a possible suit, though, it probably is not worth the cost to actually pursue..

Here is what I know, The number used by national payday advance is listed to Southern Empire and I have verified certain corporate registered agents that are similar between the two. I would document everything and fiel a complaint with the ftc. you can try the state of florida AG as well. If you want to know more just pm me

Thanks for the info. Good ole' Mr. Kay. I've dealt with him, and he is a pain in the butt with his threats that continue to escalate with each call. He has called from the "collection dept", the "pre-litigation dept", then "civil litigation," and "criminal litigation," and now "the office of criminal conduct." I've had who claim to be his supervisors call and say they are meeting with the judge to issue an arrest warrant that day, and then after a month or so of no contact, they start over again from the beginning. Thanks for connecting the two. I would like to file a complaint if I knew the proper jurisdiction and who the heck they really are. (I don't know how to pm you, so that's why I'm writing here!)
