It's now 2:07 pm Eastern time and this one number has called already 8 times today starting at around 8:15 Am. No one is ever there. When you answer, there is no reply and after a few "hellos?" it just goes to a busy signal.
I'm mostly curious as to who this is that is so rude as to not answer ever because we know the calls will stop (about a week is what the consolidaters said). Do bill collectors have some kind of automatic system that just dials at certain times and then just no one picks up?

Do they say any other number to call you? Usually, the incoming lines and outgoing lines are kept separate. It may be possible that the number you are calling is not receiving any incoming calls. Or, you are also not able to get them since it is a weekend. Try again on Monday.

...there is never anyone there. It is HFC Financial/Beneficial/HSBC/Household Bank. I googled the number and came up with your post. I am going to file a complaint with the FTC for harassment. They call approx once every 90 minutes but there's never anyone there. When there is someone there, they can't hardly speak English.

It is HFC..I have a loan with them and if you are late at all they call and hound you! I can get calls up to every 30 minutes! I have learned to pick up the phone and wait about two seconds before I say hello. The thing that pisses me off the most is they don't ever leave a message..they just call and call and call!
Harassing Phone Calls
This number is HFC Confirmed. Today is the 24th of September, and I have a payment entered due on the 23rd, which I had changed to the first 9 months ago, and the payment is made directly from my bank. It is never late, never off at all, but I still get two bills per month, one for the 23rd and one for the first. Taking this to an HFC office will not clear it up, as they can't or will not remove the now, not overdue payment of the 23rd. But to call on a Sunday at 9:02 AM is going too far. Monday, there will be some harsh phone calls made... which I have made the last 8 months. It will not change, because next month, I will get two bills and a phone call on the 24th, only then someone will be on the line (not when they are closed, it is automatic)an answer will be by someone who does not speak English and we will not accomplish anything. You can't hurt their feelings, or accomplish any substantial business dealings, as they aren't normal or even in the United States half of the time. If you get a foreign accent, it is either India or the Philippines where they are paid ridiculous wages, and are forced to make outrageous amounts of phone calls. There is no concept of time, as I have had phone calls at 6:17 AM, and after 10 PM. This needs to be stopped, but no one will work with you, no one speaks English and no one really cares as it is motivated by money, greed and the exploition of foreign workers who are glad to have a job that pays them a couple of dollars per day.
They are the worst
They will call non-stop, weekends included. Cptbob, if you want to deal with someone that has one iota of what's going on you practically have to let it go into collections. They don't let those calls get outsourced. But even they screw somethings up. I have paid twice in a month on more than one occasion because of thier messed up billing. The local offices almost never know what the people at the corporate office have done in terms of noting the account or claim they can't help you in anyway. Once my loan is paid off I will NEVER get a loan from them again.
They Never Ever Ever Stop
Even if it goes to collections, the phone calls are the same. They never stop calling. I got one call at 7:30 on a Sunday morning and one night got one at 10:00. They are ridiculous. Then they argue with you about paying your bill. They say "Let's set up a payment right now for you." Dude, if I had the money to pay the bill, I would have paid it already. All conversations are with people who, if you can even hear them at all, can hardly speak English. These days, when I start getting harassed by them, I either start saying, "What?" repetitively or I simply hang up.
In addition...
I love it when I've already made an online payment and they still keep calling, as if I didn't make a payment. Then, when I tell them that I already made a payment, they're totally surprised but then feel the need to confirm every last detail of the payment, as if you didn't know the amount, date, etc. of the payment you made all by yourself.
This company
We have a loan through this place. We have an allotment set up through the military, unfortunately, they must not get the payment ontime, because they have called this morning about 5 times. My husband and I have started giving up on answering the phone when we see it is there number....We have called Beneficial repetively to try and remedy the situation since it is no fault of our own to no avail. As a matter of fact, my husband we to buy a car, and his credit report is showing late payments to them. We have no idea what to do about this.

Have a different opinion
I have a different opinion. The company's intention may not be the only task to get money. They work together to see why u did not pay and how this can be resolved. Sometimes it becomes very easy to shout on a person and hang up. Why dont u speak to them and escalate the issue and make sure u r serviced the best. See, there is always a solution for every problem, but sometimes u dont have a dare to face the problem. Why one of u try this and i'm sure u ll also change ur opinion.

Hey guys. I have been to india. It's a very dirty and sick place. But try interacting with people for a fortnight and u may feel they r one of the most cultured generation. They care for emotions. When our nation was promoting globalization, and when few asian countries did not accept, they were being quoted as people with no business sense. Today that they accepted that and millions are jobless as more american and european goods are prefered, we dont accept few of the jobs being outsourced. This way we prove to the world that we are not brave enough to accept the reality. I'd say before commenting on anything a whole picture needs to be considered

HSBC calls
I googled this number this morning (800-677-4576) and am extremely pleased to have found this board. What a great thing to help the consumer.
I have been trying hard to stay right on top of my bills and not have any lates. My credit score is increasing, and it feels darn good.
I took a loan with HFC Financial a few months ago. They have not sent any paperwork/bills since. I tried to log into their site to make a payment, but cannot until I have a bill with an account number.
Someone from this number called a few days ago and would not identify the company they were with. They hung up on me when I kept asking. They wanted my husband, whoose name in which the loan is.
They called at least 10 times that day. Then they started on Saturday (the next day) calling, a total of about 8 times. Now it is Sunday morning and their first call comes in at 8:32 a.m.
Why is the FCC allowing this company to harrass individuals in such a manner?
800 number calling
yes, this is a 800 number that is used by Beneficial Loans. It is usually coming from India (they reap the benefits from overcharging on high interest loans from us stupid Americans and then turn aroound and hire out of the country) where they have a call center. Most of the callers are aggressive, and in some cases kind of rude.

I don't think this is a game, however you are correct that they are only authorized to contact you once per day. I would suggest that all of you work out a plan to pay your bills and then we won't get calls like this anymore.
