I took out a loan from GFS for $300. They would take out $75 each pay day. Then the account was so overdrawn I changed my direct deposit to a different account which they didn't have access to. They called and threatened the wage garnishment. I told them the account was closed and I didn't have another account but would mail them a cashier's check or money order. They said that account isn't closed. I said it's so overdrawn that I closed the account. They finally gave me the information for a money gram which I sent and paid in full. Just today they called me from the 44 UK London number and told me I was approved for a higher amount loan. Don't take out a loan with these people. They are bad news and after reading all the posts out here, I wish there was a way we could shut them down.

i had a $200 loan and ended up closing my bank account, and now they say I owe them over $4,500 and that they are going to contact my employer and file for a wage attachment.

just let your boss or HR person know that this scam outfit will
call.they will end up sticking there foot in there mouth.there is
no way they can garnish without a court order.also they are a
illegal overseas pdl.if you paid the principal ignore them you are
done.if thet call further hang up,don't even acknowledge them.

I paid off my loan plus more over 2 years ago. I figured out they were still taking money out of my account and swiftly closed the account after speaking to my bank. They didn't want to hear anything I had to say, they didn't want to see my bank statements showing how much I had paid, etc.

I sent them a letter demanding proof of the debt and they just 'went away'. That was 2 years ago. Now my phone is ringing off the hook the last 2 weeks with phone solicitations and guess who calls......Route 66. They are now demanding $1400 for a $300 loan, said we made the deal 'verbally' and that he had my info and would get his money.

So I have to wonder if now they are selling our information?

I have once more sent a letter to them demanding payment but really wish there were more we the consumers could do to shut them down once and for all. :x

I've paid over 3500 dollars on a 300 dollar loan, 35 dollars biweekly since October 3, 2006. I can't get them to give me a payoff balance, return a phone call or answer an e-mail.

Hi there! Wow, from the sounds of things you have waaaayyyy over paid these people!
First things first. You need to learn your state's laws re payday loans. What state do you live in? Once we know, we can help you do that.
Once you do that, we can also help you learn how to check to see whether this company is licensed in your state. Chances are they're not, since they're probably really not licensed anywhere in the US, but it's good to check to be sure.
After you do this, then you need to let them know that the gravy train is over and they need to stay the heck out of your checking account. More than likely, you will probably have to close your account and get a new one, as most of us did, but talk with your bank--poss they will put blocks on your account to keep them out.
And finally, go straight to your payroll dept and tell them in writing that you are revoking any voluntary wage assignment you might have signed authorizing them to garnish your wages should you default. Trust me, they will try and do it to you--I know, because Sonic tried to do it to me--and my payroll dept told them to pack sand.
You will be bombarded with phone calls, but trust me, it does get better. Know your rights--and we are here to help you do that.
