So confused
I just got home from work, where this company called five times. The one thing in my situation that I does not correlate with any others, is that I never applied for a loan...I have never heard of this company. When I searched online, this site is what I found. They drove me crazy tonight...saying my loan is approved and all I kept saying was that I never ever applied for loan or gave out my personal information!!! Any suggestions are welcome. I plan on calling my back asap and I already put out fraud alerts with the credit agencies: Equifax, Experian and Trans Union.

I had an ery churning feeling about this company and decided to decline the loan but only after agreeing to the 1st of 6 verbal questions. They do however, have all of my banking and other personal information. Since they are obvious scams, does anyone know if these people will still deposit the money in my checking account? I also called them to decline the loan as well as sent an email.

AFTER HEARING ALL THAT YOU SAID, I DECIDED THAT I WAS GOING TO CALL THEM AND CANCEL THE PRE-APPROVAL. I NEVER ACCEPTED ANYTHING. I TOLD THE PERSON TO PLEASE CANCEL THE PRE-APPROVAL I CALLED TWO TIMES IN A ROW. THEY ARE RUDE. THE GUY HUNG UP ON ME BOTH TIMES. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO.....ANY HELP? I JUST GOT OFF WITH THEM A THIRD TIME AND THEY FINALLY TOLD ME THAT THEY CANCELLED MY APP. AND THAT THIER PPL CAN NOT CALL ME ANYMORE...LETS SEE IF THIS WORKS.

Thanks to all of you because I thought it was just me. I have tried so many times to get in touch with these people, I can't even live right for my account being so negative and its about to drive me insane, yes we have my husbands income but I'm not working 5 days a week for these people to take what I work for, yes I borrowed the money but they got more than enough from me. Looking at everyones response has got me in fired up, we got to get these dirty folks, lets keep each other up to par on what needs to be done. Thanks

Just keep after them. I finally got them to mark my account paid in full after paying over $700 on a $200 loan. It takes a long time, but it can be done.

people, once and for all, it doesn't matter where you call or who you want to contact. there is no way you can sue us. i've said it before and now i'll say it again, you owe, just pay! we have a spoken recorded contract for each and every one of you and you can't due anything about that. yes, this company is runned by a group of british chumps that frankly don't care what you do, because they think they have a solid buiness that gives them a ton of cash. besides, they are now transferring their operations to third world countries and there is no way your law's short arm can reach them there! tell you what, I'll post my contact information shortly and those of you that want to reach and agreement with me, for a fair price, I'll be going into the system and erasing your debt for you! I'll be taking wire transfers and money orders.

So inside man, if you we can't sue them, why are they starting to mark accounts as paid in full and aren't currently going after the consumers if they have a spoken recorded contract for all of them?
Route 66 AGENT
Hello people, I am a Route 66 agent, one of the many who call you at your jobs, at your homes to get you to pay money to this company.Honestly Ive been working with them for a Month, I hate the job and I totally understand how each and everyone of you feels, which is why I'm fixing to find another job. They claim to have ways of collecting this money by force like some of you mentioned, with wage garnishment etc. I Do know that everything they say they will do they have u agree to it verbally over the phone, I've read the Sales contract many times, and when You accept this loan they have you agree to all kinds of bullshit. What I dont know is if it really would be something to use against you, it is not my area, I'm just a "collector". they also go by london laws where it is not illegal to charge 79 dollars for a 200 loan.
now to be quite frank, if you take a 200 loan with this company, just pay 279 on your next paydate and close the account with them. dont let time pass without u dealing with it, thats when the fees they said they would charge u on each paydate accumulate, and then you have to pay 800 some dollars for a stupid 200 loan.
Agree with Insideman
quite frankly he is right, u owe, you pay!
I dont belive it to be a scam honestly dont, but it sure has no consideration which is why I hate the job. my advice would be to listen carefully to what it is you are agreeing to, if possible record the conversation yourself as well to keep records of what u agreed 2, and if you dont want to pay more than 279 for your loan, dont let your paydates pass without paying route 66. or just pay 279 on your next pay date to be exempt from the loan.

Porkchop, thanks for the info. Do they tell you to threaten people with arrest, and illegal tactics such as that? Just curious. Please stick around, I'm sure many people have questions. I know I never applied for a loan with them but one night they repeatedly called me and tried to say I did,and they wanted my account to put the money in it. Well, I did not give them what they wanted, had many words with them, eventually they left me alone, I never was a cutomer of theirs and never wanted to be.

Amy445: they don't ask me to threathen people or anything like that. if somehow a representative threathens a customer would mean that there is a lack of expirience on that agent's Customer Service Skills and it is something that the company should look into and correct, if neccessary eliminate those who do so. now what they do tell me to do is to remind customers who refuse to pay their loans, about the agreement they previously had made when they applied. we remind them about the wage garnishment, we remind them of the involvment of third parties for repossesions etc. etc.
KarenB: all u would need to do is pay 279 on the following paydate after you recieve the loan. how it works? you recieve 200 dollars from Route 66 funding after previously agreeing that Route 66 Funding would debit an amount of $79 dollars from your savings or checking account on every paydate as a processing fee for the use of the loan. these fees would extend your loan untill the next paydate where you would have the option of paying an additional $79 fee and extend your loan or 279 to pay it off, off course you would have to notify route 66 prior to that particular paydate where u wish to pay the loan off. then they would make the arrangement to collect whatever is the amount you owe. if you're a customer thats always on track and no fees have be returned you would always have a balance of 279 on each paydate.
How is it paid off, you are saying that "if you're a customer th
How is it paid off, you are saying that "if you're a customer that's always on track and no fees have been returned you would always have a balance of $279 on each payday", shouldn't the balance be $0 if you're on track and no fees have been returned? Why would there always be a balance of $279 if the customer is paying?
Had the smae problem
They charged me these outrages fees. Is there any way we can report this. I ended up paying over $600.00 for a $200.00 loan

I was advised to contact my AG site and file a complaint. Send a letter using the templates letters on this site and insert your states pdl laws in them and send, fax, and email them to your pdl internet pdls. In your letter demand to have account paid in full.

Yes, I am....r u?
Also, I was able to confirm after speaking with a rep of their's yesterday name Curt (could be Joe for all I really know) but yes he did have an accent. I asked him a lot of questions and he states they have "many" locations throughout USA and their headquarters are in London. The "storefront" address he gave me was the Albany, NY one that has been previously discussed here. I told him about OH laws concerning online pdl's which he in turn stated I agreed to the verbal contract during our tape session. I requested a copy of the session for my records and any documentation and he stated he could not do that. Therefore, I kept persisting regarding this loan and stating any type of agreement both parties are to have a copy of the contract. I basically was talking out of my a** to get my point across since I want this marked paid in full. I will be filing a complaint with the OH AG too. He said to contact their legal department 877-646-9618 but after my persistence regarding this he told me to call back today to speak with the manager Darren Webb between 8AM-5PM EST. I will be doing that today and will let all you know how it turns out.
Anyway he did provide me with their fax number 877-564-7740. Now if it works or not I do not know yet, I need to send my letter this morning and send a certified one also.
Has anyone had any luck in getting their account paid in full with them?
I took out a $200 loan with a $79 finance fee so far to date, I have paid them $869.
How can I determine the amount I have overpaid, I still get confused on that part. Can anyone help?
I would like to have this info before I call them and send the letter. If anyone can help that would be great, thanks.

Inside Man & Porkchop....
I have a question why when we call we get the run around? I have called several times and get the run around let alone I have requested a copy of the sales document which Route 66 conveniently states they cannot provide that it is a legal verbal binding contract. If that is the case the consumers should have a copy of the recording and when asked for such copy the Route 66 reps state the same thing over and over again - "legal verbal binding contract". So since you work for the company can you provide some insight as to why for our requests it is such a difficult process. I spoke with one of your reps by the name of Carmen Bueno after I was advise by another rep to contact the "GM Darren Webb"...thing is you can cannot come into contact with Darren so they pass you around. I asked for a copy of the sales contract that you read and am denied a copy of it written, faxed, or emailed same thing with the tape session they say they have. What's the deal? By law for any type of contract both parties are to have the same information and it is to be documented in writing.
BIG MONEY
People do need to make sure they read the fine print. Because of my failure to do so I paid back 595 dollars for a 200 dollar loan. I had to pay it though because I agreed to receive 200 dollars from them and they gave it to me as they agreed and I continued to not pay it in full for 3 months. When I finally realized I had paid way over the loan amount, I calculated I had to pay back 600 dollars to close out my 200 dollar loan. No matter how fast you need money, these loans are NOT the answer.
loan nightmare
i applied for the loan then i talked to my wife about it. and we when they called i told them no i didnt want it.. no its 79.00 every two weeks out of our checking.. its a nightmare.. i have to close my account.. this has to stop..

Unfortunately jimbob64 that is probably the only way to handle them. You are not the first one who has told them no for a loan and they go ahead and proceed and begin the debiting nightmare. Is it possible for you and your wife to open an account with a new number or go to another bank to open an account before it is too late? It is probably the only way to gain back control. Just don't listen to their empty threats of jail, fraud, etc....you won't be arrested or charged with anything, you aren't the one who comitted a crime.

do you think my bank will let me open another account there if i let them know what happened, or should i just go to another bank. i just filed a complaint with the bbb, this place has just gotten me so mad
Has it occurred to anyone else on this list that a loan is usual
Has it occurred to anyone else on this list that a loan is usually paid with part interest, part principle? These people are scamming us out of money by not allowing us to pay the principle down automatically with each payment we make.
Inside Man's description of how the "loaning" process works is totally not kosher. Getting a loan of money is nothing like renting a lawnmower. You get the loan, and you agree to pay it back according to some set finance fee, not finance fee after finance fee after finance fee and then the loan itself.
Can anyone help me on the possible illegality of this? I know we agreed verbally to pay this "finance fee" every two weeks (and by the way, mine was every two weeks, and I'm being debited every week) until the loan was paid in full. No mention was EVER made in the phone call of no money being applied to that $200.
The problem is we need stricter laws regultaing these companies.
The problem is we need stricter laws regultaing these companies. And the illegalities come in when the majority of these companies are not licensed to loan in any state and they attempt to use illegal collection tactics by threatening the consumer with jail/calling c0-workerkers, etc...

They tried their scare tactics with me. However, I work for a lawfirm and I retained one of the attorneys there. When a Greg Gomes from the Investigation section called harrassing and threatening me on my job, I put my lawyer on the phone who was able to obtain a settlement on my debt in the amount of $400.00 which was broken into 2 payments of $200.00. I sent them the money orders via Federal Express to their address in Albany. They cannot charge you with bank fraud and they cannot have you arrested. So don't be afraid. If you cannot work out reasonable settlement arrangements with them, hire an attorney and have the attorney do it. As long as you pay the agreed settlement, you will be all right.
electronic payment
Last week you made to electronic withdrawals from my account. One of your people called me and I told them NOT to take any money out of my account until October 5th. By you taking that money you cut me short and I would like you to replace one installment of $80 and not touch my account again until Oct. 12th. Thank you.

Oh, great. I just stumbled across this site when looking for info on Route 66. I got a $200 loan that is due on the 13th. I think I heard that I have to inform them that I'm paying in full three days prior to that date. Is that true? If so, then would they keep taking the money from my account? Why are these people still doing business?
Yes that is true, so I would pay them off immediately if you can
Yes that is true, so I would pay them off immediately if you can, otherwise they will debit your account continuously and before you know it your out $1200 not $200. They operate from the UK. If you owe this Friday, they will tell you that you are too late and take the roll over fee (which is illegal in most states), and then you will be stuck paying even more.

I have a loan for 200 with them and they deduct the 79 dollar fee every 2 weeks. I have called them as late as the day before and have not had a problem. Now I do agree with the fact that they do not have a way to pay the principal down and then the interest fee. Please advise as I do not have attorney fee money.

This people have ripped me off as well. I got a loan for $200 and they have the last 4 paydays taken out a fee of $79 and at the same time they have taken out a fee of $75.00 so I have paid off my loan and the fees and they still continue to harass me. I closed my account and I will never do this again

Hi, i work for this company too, my job is basically call you and process the loan. We are like the NICE guys, after u finish to speak with us there is a little possibility that you will get to speak with another nice person.
I always keep track of all my customers, to see how they are doing with their loans. Sadly only the 10% Of them have fully pay off their loan.
If you recently took a loan with us : pay the full amount of $280 INMEDIATLY.
DONT extend the loan.
Why ? Because every time you extend the loan , we will debit from your bank account ther relevant fee.
The fee reduce $5 everytime u extend the loan, but at the end you will still have to pay the original loan ($200) plus another fee.
How ? Just call 5 days before the loan is due back, we tell you to call 3 days before, but for your safety call 5 days before.
The phone number is 1 877 564 77 38
Most of us in this company speak with accents (british, arabic, spanish, french) since we arent americans. So if at any point you dont understand what is being expain to you, feel free to ASK or ask for a supervisor.
Theres a few more things that i could type in here, but it will be at another time
