Sued for Student Loan - please help

I was served the other day by the University of GA for a student loan debt of $7500 and lawyers fees of nearly $5000! I am not sure how to proceed. I have no savings or assets and am living paycheck to paycheck. I can afford to start paying it back at about $75 per month. What should I do? Should I contact the school or the lawyer? Is this even possible for them to drop the lawsuit? I want to settle, but I have no money to pay a settlement unless it's a small monthly payment. Any advice would be greatly appreciated... I'm terrified!

Since you have been served you must first respond to the summons. Then contact the attorneys office. Honestly? It takes a lot of a school to initiate a lawsuit and I am assuming that you have not paid on this for a few years. They may or may not agree to drop the lawsuit..you will have to ask them.
