What effect on one's credit rating of consolidating debt?

20 years 1 month ago
What is the effect on credit of using a debt consolidation service to reduce interest rates and monthly payments? Our credit rating is important to us, and we have never been late on a payment. Our credit rating has, however, suffered from approximately $100,000 in credit card debt, the proceeds of which were used to purchase equipment for a business venture.

Need Advice on how to manage income tax

20 years 1 month ago
Hi, I need some advice on what to do with my upcoming income tax money. I will be receiving about $1500 and am undecided on what to do with it. I can finish paying my car note, which is $1650 or pay off 3 of my credit cards. If I pay off my car note, I will be saving about $300 a month. If I pay off my credit cards I won't have to worry about them and save all that interest. One thing I should mention, I am behind and over the limit on all of them. I'll still have 3 more cards to worry about and another car note as well. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

CA verbally abusing me. what to do?

20 years 1 month ago
Rick Jordan sent me a letter on a debt that was settled and paid as of 1994 and told me that I was going to go into collections for this amount unless I can provide proof that the debt was settled. I told him I kept records for 7 years. He said BECAUSE I called he could not emy account -was verbally abusive and when I became angry he said he noted my account for 'cussing' and that" I should be a ashamed of myself" and then hung up on me!

Hi I am carrying credit card debts of $7200 and other unsecured debt $3400. At present I am paying 60% of my net monthly income towards repayment of my existing debt. Please suggest me, whether I should go for debt consolidation or enroll myself in debt consolidation loan program?

Victim of identity theft in 1997, Asset Acceptance in 2005!

20 years 1 month ago
I was a victim of identity theft in 1997 and 3 credit card accounts were opened in my name, sent to a mailbox rental store. One of the credit cards was opened with Household Bank. Although they were skeptical initially that I was a victim of identity theft, I sent them the paperwork they required and never heard from them after a few months. A few days ago, I received a letter from Asset Acceptance saying that if I do not reply within 30 days, I will be acknowledging the debt of $4100. I checked my credit report and Household bank wasn't even on it!
