ya gotta love lawyers for some things huh! please let me know if any of those laws have changed and any of those rules have changed ,example; proof of debt and statute of limitations. there must be state to state differences. but its very clever and what ever slows there collection process

I have serious credit and debt problems! I currently owe in the ballpark of 40,000 dollars, more than half which is unsecured debt. I became accustomed to my bachelor lifestyle and refused to change my spending habits and now am heading towards a dead end. I have been researching counceling services and they all have the same outcome... bad credit. If I said I was willing to do anything to get out of this poor fiscal cycle; what would it take? Where should I start?

I first applied for a mortgage last May. The rep. at CitiBank said I had next to no credit, and a few bad items on my credit that I was not aware of and told me that my fico was 599, I needed at least 600, pay off those few bad items and a mortgage was mine when my score became 600 or above. Now it is January of the next year. Everything is paid off, I have no debt in my name, my score is now 591. The rep I got this time said that I could not have a morgage because I have no revolving or fixed debt. What the heck can I do?

:cry: I have about 4 credit cards (which I am way behind in payments) and 3 utility bills (closed accounts). Now my debt equals to the amount that I take home annually. I was able to pay my monthly dues until I went on disabilty. I am not sure where to go or what to do. I am at the point where I am afraid to open my mailbox and answer my phone. I want to be debt free. What would be the best way to go about this? Are there companies out there that would consolidate credit cards debts and utility debts together?

I recived a letter ststing that i owed 1743.28 for a membership, I did sing up for a membership but, when i arrived for Hawaii in 2001, but because of my job as a truck driver i could not go to the gym. I payed them $ 100.00, cash but never steped into any ballys gym after that first day. Now i owe them 1743.28, for something i never used, they made out. They out $100.00 from me, i got a membership card, is that membership card worth 1743.28. I did some looking around and found out that this happends a lot.

Heya, guys and gals. I am really here to help everyone out who may be having problems with a collections agency, or if anyone is just curious about their practices. I just landed a new job as a collector for a large company (business to business) and I am fairly conversant with the laws pertaining to collections. I learn more every day, and I am happy to share my knowledge with you all.
