CARE Act/Corona and Student Loan Debt

Husband has a federal loan with PHEAA. He has defaulted and enter into a rehabilitation program. However, wages are garnished during the first five months as he proves he will pay in a timely manner. We received a letter from IRS stating our tax return would be offset on March 4th. We received another on the 26th saying that would be cancelled. I spoke with PHEAA Today and they did receive our tax return and it will not be returned becuase it was before the CARE Act (March 13th).

Negotiating with Portfolio Recovery

Hi So my situation. While we were still together my ex maxed out all of my credit cards. Stopped paying most of them (She handled our finances) Then left. I am on a very limited fixed income due to a permanent disability (SSDI). 3/4 of which goes towards my mortgage, rent and utilities. My finances have stabilized somewhat, online surveys have helped, and I can save small amounts here and there, but not enough to handle the debts. And not reliably enough to enter into a payment agreement. One of my debts was handed over to Portfolio Recovery Associates.

Is insurance payment more important that paying back debts?

I don't know whether or not this is the right platform. Should I give more importance to paying back debt or to purchase an insurance policy say for home and car. The insurance company also demands quite a lot. And, how to pay to the insurance company? It creates a problem in the budget to make insurance payment in that month. Have to curtail elsewhere. i am having debts too.

I am asking this on behalf of my friend Catherine. Her mother's fianncial status doesn't make her eligible for getting Medicaid assistance. Someone had told her to set Medicaid Asset Trust for her. Can she get benefits immediately if she sets that trust? Say if she is admitted to hospital for any reason, will that help? How far medical insurance can cme to use? Can anyone assist what should be done?
