I am about $15,000 in debt. I am so stressed out because I can barely make minimum payments, and all the late fees have added up and they are now charging me over limit fees. thats an extra $70 a month thats adding up for three different credit cards. I am barely getting by. My wife just got her hours cut in half at work and all the bills just keep adding up and the balance doesn't go down a bit. I am trying to save and pay as much as I can on all credit cards but it's not enough. I am thinking of just filing for BK to get out the easy way but I don't even have the money to pay an attorney. The one thing that worries me is that my home is almost paid for and I don't want to loose it. I would like a fresh start, and not do the same mistake twice. My advice to all of you out there. If you don't have the cash to buy it, don't us plastic because it will hurt you if you can't manage it properly.

That feels better, just needed to vent for a minute. Please advise.

Awww gee, I understand how you feel, I have been there and am still digging myself out, it seems endless. I really don't have any advice but I wanted you to know I understand! Hang in there, hopefully things will get better for you! Smile

Have you tried looking into a debt mamnagement plan? Or have you tried asking your creditors about hardship programs?

I also know how you feel, and sometimes it just feels good to vent!

Thanks for the support. I am going to call and ask to see what kind of help they can offer. I sent a letter to one creditor once and they responded to me saying that they couldn't help me. Is it better if I call, rather than sending a letter?

None of mine responded favorably to my letters. I had much better luck by calling. But truthfully, once I started missing payments and the collection calls started, that's when I got the most offers to enter a hardship program. When they called and asked about the missed payments I would tell them that I didn't have any money and that we had a hardship. Then they would ask what was going on, listen to what I told them, and then in most cases, offer some sort of hardship program.

Good luck!
